Why We Built ClanTrade on Hyperliquid

When we set out to build a decentralized copy trading platform, the choice of underlying infrastructure was the most critical decision we'd make. After months of evaluation, we chose Hyperliquid. Here's why.

The Requirements

For copy trading to work well on-chain, we needed four things:

• Sub-second execution — Copy trades need to execute fast to minimize slippage
• Deep liquidity — Large copy positions need to fill without moving the market
• Full on-chain data — Every trade must be verifiable for leaderboard integrity
• Sustainable economics — The platform needs a revenue model that doesn't rely on exploiting users

Why Not [Other DEX]?

We looked at every major perpetual DEX:

GMX/dYdX — Great protocols, but their liquidity and execution speed didn't meet our requirements for real-time copy trading at scale.

Centralized exchanges — The performance is there, but we'd lose the entire value proposition of on-chain verification and non-custodial design.

Solana-based DEXs — Fast, but the ecosystem fragmentation and chain reliability concerns gave us pause.

What Makes Hyperliquid Different

Performance That Matches Centralized Exchanges

Hyperliquid processes thousands of TPS with sub-second finality. For copy trading, this means when a leader opens a position, followers' copies execute within the same second — minimizing the price difference between leader and follower entries.

Liquidity at Scale

As one of the highest-volume perpetual DEXs, Hyperliquid has the order book depth to handle copy trading at scale. When a trader with 1,000 followers opens a position, Hyperliquid's liquidity ensures reasonable fills across all copies.

Complete On-Chain Transparency

Every order, every fill, every position — it's all on-chain. This gives us the data we need to build trustworthy leaderboards, accurate PnL tracking, and verifiable performance metrics. There's no "trust us" — it's "verify on-chain."

The Builder Program

Hyperliquid's Builder Fee model is brilliantly designed for platforms like ours. It lets us earn revenue from trade execution while keeping fees transparent and competitive. This creates a sustainable business model that aligns our incentives with users — we succeed when our traders succeed.
